MT's mission is to provide professional counseling from a distinctly Christian framework. He uses proven therapeutic techniques alongside the solid counsel of Scripture to help clients learn healthier and more effective ways of dealing with life's difficulties. Where conflicts may exist between therapeutic techniques and scripture – Sola Scriptura – “scripture alone” always prevails.
AREAS OF PRACTICE. MT provides individual counseling for adults and adolescents suffering from a variety of emotional, relational and spiritual difficulties including specializing in sex therapy for men and women dealing with sexual integrity issues.
CONFIDENTIALITY. Confidentiality is key in the counseling relationship, allowing clients a safe place to work through their unique problems in an environment of unconditional acceptance. This is especially powerful for ministerial clients and others in full-time ministry, who often feel alone in times of distress due to the nature of their leadership positions.
WHAT TO EXPECT. For people who have never been to counseling, the process can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming; however most clients report that MT’s strong relational approach to the therapeutic process disarms their fears rather quickly. The initial visit most often consists of establishing the therapuetic relationship, including getting to know one another and gaining a clear understanding of the goals for the counseling process. This allows MT and his client to “hit the ground running” beginning with the second session. For adolescents, MT requires a session with the client’s parents or guardians prior to meeting with the client in order to gather relevant clinical and family history.
